![]() ![]() I'll probably pick up the inevitable Interscope reissue once it's out. I had to clean them off & transferred them to MoFi sleeves. The master itself it much more dynamic than the digital version, so I still put it on from time to time, but those pops & clicks really get to me! Also, the glue that holds the special padded record sleeves together started melting off after a while, getting on the remix LPs I didn't listen to all that much, anyway. I received it as a gift & tried to contact the company that put it out to see if I could exchange it, but after 1 email exchange they never got back to me again. It had pops & clicks right out of the box, which 2 runs through the Spin Clean improved a little, but there's still a fair amount of crackling on every LP. ![]() I'm very happy with the consistently good-to-great SQ of all of them as I've improved my system over the years, but my The Information box set was cut terribly. I started collecting when I was in high school with Mutations, so I avoided paying insane prices over the years by grabbing everything when it came out. The seductive cross-section of styles on Souled Out lives on in Beck’s Midnite Vultures, which is a slice-and-dice tour of the last 30 years of African American pop: from the staccato horn accents, wah-wah guitars, and gurgling clavinets of high-sheen soul to the creepy busted gamelan sonics of mid-80s hip hop to the declamatory rhymes of rap.
